NATIONAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION
AND STUDY CENTER

The National Violence Prevention and Study Center (NVPSC) has as its central purpose the prevention and study of violence in the United States and beyond. It attempts to achieve its goals through gathering data, conducting research, disseminating information, providing training, and assisting other organizations in order to understand and prevent violence.

The National Violence Prevention and Study Center will build on the knowledge base developed by its founders on assessment of threat, targeted violence, and the unique role of gender. The NVPSC will conduct studies and offer teaching and consultation in a number of significant areas including, but not limited to, targeted workplace violence, school-based attachks, stalking and other kinds of relationship violence, and violence related to homeland defense.

The NVPSC's goals include developing and disseminating information that aids persons with responsibilities to prevent violence to indentify, assess, and manage situations of potential violence and to create climates and cultures of safety.
